Tennessee Bar Exam, Essay Topics Summer 2006: Giving Back

Through some help from my friends, we came up with the list of the topics that were tested in the summer 2006.  I hope that you find this helpful.

    So, I finally compared your blog’s summary of the essay topics with my statistical model of the topics likely to be tested. Out of all the subjects, they did not test us on the following subjects: sales, agency, personalty, wills and estates. Do you agree? I didn’t check the questions again. Obviously, they did a good job of incorporating nearly every topic into the exam. So, my conclusion is that you have to diligently study every topic and you cannot really pick and choose. The only one I really got right is wills and estates. I would not have been prepared for a question on that subject past the most rudimentary question on how a will could be written or cancelled. From my calculations, the only nearly guaranteed subject that they did not test on was partnership law. Given the state of flux with the new law and all, that is only fair.

    We had an agency question with the book deal (I think you have it as contracts-remedies).

    We also had a civ pro sub part to the commercial paper question (I believe when the mom changed her mind, she could have taken a voluntary non-suit). I only went to remedies twice, so I don’t know if that was covered in remedies.

    I think you could have included conflicts in the criminal question (with the who gets to prosecute, what law business), but that was easy. So who knows if that’s truly conflicts…

    Uhh, you do realize we’re done with the bar and never have to worry about it again, right?

    Also, efa is right, there was an agency question in the K question w/ the book deal and civ. pro. in the commercial paper.

    Jeremy – Don’t waste anytime…. Put it up on E-Bay. I too am taking the exam in Feb. 2007

    Besides a review of State law, without the luxury of being able to take BarBri in TN (since I am out of state), what approach would you recommend?…. Did you seem to absorb more info by reviewing outlines or practicing doing the essays or both? P.S. Give some hints on the strategy to answer the exam… I understand we only have 30 mins each question… Thanks James.
