Today?...

Tweet I just received an IM from Doug: we may be leaving today. They are finalizing stuff right now. Izaak is waiting to hear from his third surgeon. So I will update as soon as we know for...

Rowdy...

Tweet What happens when you get a group of Floyds and a group of Standridges down the hall from one another?  The nursing staff asks you to stop having visitors. Evidently our taking of the day room and spectacular turn out of well-wishers  took its toll on the staff at the hospital, and they have asked that Doug and Izaak not have visitors tomorrow.  So stay home rowdy people, and more importantly we will get a pillow for Doug to laugh...

Restrictions...

Tweet The Doctor has said that until he is “released” he may not: Skydive. Bungee jump. Drive a car. Lift anything heavier than a gallon of milk. Perform strenuous house or yard work. Dig in dirt. Play with cats or birds. Clean a pet litter box or birdcage. Participate in strenuous sports. Wear an unprotected seatbelt. Effect on Doug?...

Transplant Porn...

Tweet I know that some of you have weak stomachs (like me), but some would like to see from whence it came. So here is a shot of the Donor’s Stapled belly, and here is more of the same of the Donee (aka Doug E....

Donor...

Tweet Good news, the doctors are saying that it is “possible” that the guys may get to go home today–three days after the surgery! I just spoke with Izaak, and he is still in a great deal of pain from the gas. Evidently the gas (carbon dioxide) escapes the body through the joints, so when Izaak is sitting up in bed his shoulders and neck hurt. He did have a wonderful night’s sleep last night, which he is very thankful. He only woke up to take the percocet every four...

Donee...

Tweet On the third day, Doug said that he is still having trouble sleeping at night, and that he finds it easier to sleep during the day.  This is good news because it means that he is getting back to normal–sleepless nights on the recliner and sleeping and surfing the web all day at work. Doug has quit taking his pain medication for the most part and is only suffering from some minor soreness.  He is “peeing a bunch”  and the nurse has removed the catheter, so he is up and down a lot. ...

News #2...

Tweet Herryn Riendeau came back for the second interview to follow up on Doug and Izaak today. I will keep you posted as to when the story will run. Doug was hoping for a Hannity & Colmes interview, but he agreed to settle for a local act.   Just kidding, Herryn.  Actually, they were a delight to work with, and I am really looking forward to seeing the story–as early as this...

Scarred...

Tweet We are born into this world unblemished and scarless, but in order to separate from our mothers, we must be scarred. Experiences are traced in our lives through scars—both physical and emotional. Some people even go to great lengths to intentionally scar themselves with piercings and tattoos to create their unique identities. These scars shape us. By the end of our lives, we are able to look at our bodies and tell stories about each blemish on our skin and each scar in our hearts. As Doug and...

Eggs...

Tweet Doug had his first solid food since his stay in the hospital this morning.  Eggs!  Whoo-hoo! Izaak can’t keep his seat.  He has been up and down the hall since his surgery, so he is getting his exercise. The news is supposed to come back for the follow-up in a few minutes.  Of course, if I can get the clip when they run it, I will post it right...
