Tim said it best, “Jeremy doesn’t have a problem passing a bar,” but last night I did. My friend John came in town from Portland, so Don, John, and I found the best little dive bar in Maryville. The clientele is usually a Harley Crowd, so the music is usually Freebirdesque. Last night, however, The Cheating Spoon played, and they were fantastic! They started warming up with some Radiohead, so naturally we shouted, “High and Dry,” but one Harley fellow growled, just a little. The keyboardist was playing with the guys last night for the first time. He brought a mystical Ray Manzarek feel to the group, which accented their funky jazz jams. They don’t have a website yet, but I will post I link when they do.
In a strange turn of events, the bassist’s wife, Allana Johnston (formerly Fletcher) was in my high school homeroom–weird. We sat with Allana and the drummer’s wife watching the Harley folk slowly slip searching for Freebird at other venues.
….. maybe we can meet for cell there sometime …. sounds like a great place …. and maybe we can give each other the ” Harley Wave ” …..
