Excerpt

In the first post on this subject sacrifice, I indicated that Izaak had written about Doug to win his scholarship to Maryville College.  While we are waiting to hear the latest update, I thought I would post an excerpt of his story:

A person that I know that has been an active leader in my life is my pastor Doug Floyd.  He led me to Christ, and to a place that I can be happy, and feel free.  When I first met him, I was burned out, and ready to give up on the whole church life.  It didn’t seem to fit my personality at the time.  I had bad experiences with all the churches I went to.  But he came into my life, taught me what it was to be a Christian, and how much of an honor it is to be called by God. Doug brought me to Christ, and through Christ my life has been completely change[d] and reformatted to fit the will of God.

Perhaps this testament of Doug’s unquestionable, unconditional love of those around him, is the reason that so many people have poured out their hearts through this surgery.  Doug doesn’t care about numbers.  He doesn’t care about quick fixes.  He pours out his soul to know and love those around him.  One of his co-workers, Bob Craig, just said of Doug, “He has this huge laugh.  He is able to lighten up situations and show glimmers of the grace of God that I just can’t.”
